The Peel Chair is a distinctive contemporary design created by BLOND, a London-based industrial design studio. Designed with James Melia as design lead, alongside Ewan Alston and Greg Furniaux, the chair combines sculptural simplicity with practical everyday functionality.

Peel Chair Restoration & Reupholstery

We’ve recently completed the restoration and reupholstery of this beautiful pair of Peel Chairs and matching footstool.

Having restored and reupholstered a number of Peel Chairs over the years, this particular pair also required the bases of both chairs to be restored, carried out to the customer’s specific requirements.

The chairs were carefully packaged and shipped to our workshop from the customer’s home in Brighton. Once the restoration and reupholstery work was complete, we securely packaged everything ready for the return journey to Brighton.

This is something we regularly do for customers throughout the country. We specialise in the restoration and reupholstery of quality and specialist furniture, and customers don’t necessarily need to be local to our workshop. Furniture can be carefully transported to us, restored by our experienced team and then professionally packaged for its safe return.

We’ve included some photographs below showing the completed Peel Chairs and footstool in our workshop, together with the furniture carefully packaged and ready to be shipped back to Brighton.

Orange Peel Chair Restoration and reupholstery.

The Orange Peel Chair was designed to capture the organic beauty of a falling orange peel. Its unique, curved design makes it a true statement piece, can look great in any home, and it’s surprisingly comfortable, it tilts back.

We’ve had the pleasure of restoring and reupholstering several iconic Orange Peel Chairs from across the UK. Reupholstering this chair is a unique challenge due to its unconventional design and curved cushion, but our master craftsman, Barry Griffiths, handles each with expert care and precision.

Recently, we completed one in supple Scottish hide, which the customer said looked even better than new. Another was transformed from vinyl to luxurious velvet, and our most recent Peel Chair was reupholstered in Linwood Moleskin fabric—all stunning results that always catch the eye of passing customers.

Designer chairs like these, when restored, can be worth thousands of pounds. They not only retain their value but also become conversation pieces and comfortable chairs built to last a lifetime.
