A classic fireside chair reupholstered in a Linwood fabric Note the lined-up lines in the fabric and the symmetrical arm facings.
This very pretty and delicate chair was stored by the customer for years in the garage with the intention to have it restored in the future. Our customer decided to have it reupholstered when she moved house (So we collected it from one address and delivered it to another).
It is a Victorian chair; we cleaned and waxed the wood, restored the internals and reupholstered it in the customer’s own fabric. Learn more about reupholstery fabrics
Look at the beautiful curve at the top of the back, the pleated arm fronts and the delicate braid edging – just lovely style and quality design.

This chair now lives in Northallerton. We reupholstered in a Linwood Fabrics weave. Arms and wings are upholstered burgundy leather. A clever combination.
This is a nice two-seater sofa originally with loose covers. We suggested the sofa would look smarter reupholstered fixed. This way we can achieve a more tailored fit.
The fabric is Ross Aquaclean.
Here is a photo kindly provided by our customer showing the ‘Loose Cover Sofa’ back in its home.

Two very interesting and lovely chairs we reupholstered in flags. Stars and Stripes and the Union Jack. The best photo is the close up of the lion arm – see below. You may also be interested to see a chair we reupholstered in football shirts.
The original concept of this chair was to emulate the organic shape of falling orange peel. The shape of the finished chair is beautiful and the comfort surpasses the appearance.
I must say, I have never seen one in real life before. Reupholstering it was a bit of a puzzle as the shape and curve of the one curved cushion were, let’s say not traditional. But as you can see we did restore this lovely chair in the customers chosen fabric over the original vinyl. A good move as it now looks and feels much softer. A fine artwork that is also a chair – lovely.
We are delighted to restore this sprung rocking chair.
Our customer loved the chair but it was past its best. To buy a new chair or restore the old was the question. It fits nicely in the conservatory, the customer liked the style so she decided to instruct us to restore the wood back to its original colour, re-web (under seat springing) and reupholster with all new foam padding.
The result is a fine quality bespoke restored chair.
We used Ross fabric as selected and think it works really well.
Note the all new webbing and fabric under cushion sleeve as it was originally.
We are proud to work on this brand new – soon to open a cafe in Reeth, North Yorkshire. Located in a basement, this new cafe has tiled wood floors and contemporary bench seating. Our customer selected the AquClean commercial fabric that can be cleaned with just water. The pistachio colour looks great against the ‘wood’ floor. Upholstered new bench seating.

We made the frame and the bespoke foams for this too.
Parker Knoll made this style of chair famous. Wingback chairs have been made for hundreds of years – the wing to shelter you from draughts and to rest your head. Our customer selected a lovely wool mix plaid tartan and asked us to self pipe the edges.
It looks really elegant and styling, now updated and more fitting to a contemporary or traditional home.
A chair like this is a valuable asset to any family and it may live in a number of rooms in the future. Very lovely.
We are delighted to reupholster this pair of fireside chairs. Our customer selected a Linwood fabric in a tartan check.
Linwood is a high-quality fabric supplier we have worked with for 30 years. The line has proved very popular in the last 12 months as they are on-trend and good value for a high-end fabric. In fact, we have sold more Linwood fabric in 2018 than our past 30 years.
Fireside chairs originally designed to sit next to the fire – the wings to exclude draughts to your ears in old draughty houses.
You are not restricted to buy from the retail shops. We can create a bespoke chair, sofa, footstool etc. Furniture can be bespoke restored from old quality furniture, like this pair of chairs.
The hurdle often can be the price. It costs more to reupholster say a Next Interiors or Laura Ashley chair than it does to buy a new one. The great thing about the likes of Next Interiors or Laura Ashley is that they are ‘on-trend’ and the fabrics used are very lovely to look at. The negative is that they are made to a price and probably mass produced in China or India – nothing wrong with that as it gives us a great deal – but they are made to a price and engineered to last just a few years with average use.
For value for money and a piece of furniture that will last much longer your better off buying an older quality chair and investing in a restoration of your design.
Here is an example of a fairly standard traditional wingback chair restored and updated with an ‘on-trend’ fabric. Costs a bit more, take a little more time to instigate but made to your style using British craftsmen and quality fabrics. There is no other like it!

This one is dark teak framed chair with a heavy rubberised and foam seat pad which is very firm to sit on but extremely comfortable for all sizes and weights – adults and children alike.
A super quality chair that is part of a ten-set we reupholstered in a beige weave durable fabric for a long dinner service!
