A Reupholstered Footstool
Reupholstered using the customers own fabric.

This one is dark teak framed chair with a heavy rubberised and foam seat pad which is very firm to sit on but extremely comfortable for all sizes and weights – adults and children alike.
A super quality chair that is part of a ten-set we reupholstered in a beige weave durable fabric for a long dinner service!

Lovely!

Isn’t she lovely!
Customers own fabric. Tidies up two kids bedroom chairs – looks cool!

Interesting this chair as it has a low back rail with a high back foam cushion. The back cushion fits behind the seat foam. Possibly a Ikea designed chair.
Select from over 2000 fabrics and add the detail you require. Sympathetic restoration is our pleasure!

“I am thrilled with the result, they are wonderful. I have ordered new blinds and am looking for “pieces” to finish dressing the room.
I would thank you all for your friendliness and professional attitude.
I would have no problem recommending you to anyone thinking of reupholstering furniture.”
Best wishes,
Customer in Manfield near Darlington.

Always a pleasure to work with. Our customer chose a plaid shade to coordinate with the bentwood English elm, a perfect fresh look.

Since 1944 Ercol has produced chairs with a bentwood frame and an arched back supporting delicate spindles. The wood selected was English elm – a wood previously thought impossible to bend because it distorted.

We restore Ercol Bentwood Chairs and sofas including restoration of the wood frame. We clean down, check joints and re-wax. This keeps the originality but protects the wood better, brings out the lustre and keeps them solid for daily use.

We usually only work on car seat restoration rather that regular repairs etc.
This customer asked us to restore the front and back seats of his ‘desert find’ Cadillac from Arizona where it sat for 30 years.
Real leather hide was requested to replace the original blue and grey, the cloth now almost turned to dust.
Here are the Cadillac Eldorado seats waiting to be stripped down.
Photos of the completed Cadillac Car Seats are below.

Some chairs just have ‘IT’ and this sweet 1960’s easy chair I love.
Really neat so it fits in our modern homes. A delicate colour chosen by our customer in a beautiful to the touch wool mix by Linwood. Very fashionable at the moment, will always be a classic and very comfortable too.
The word retro signifies looking backward. When designers, manufacturers and customers speak about retro furniture, we are referring to a style of furniture that looks back with nostalgia and pays homage to styles that were popular in the past. Currently furniture designers are inspired by 60s and 70s – this one is the genuine item.

Namely, retro furniture was popular in the decades of 1950s, 1960s, 1970s. Recently, the industry has added the 80s to the list, which personally I am shocked at. I love 1960’s like this chair but the 80s?

A Knole Sofa was made in the 17th century. It is housed at Knole in Kent, a house owned by the Sackville-Wests since 1605 but now in the care of the National Trust. It was originally used not as comfortable sofa but as a formal throne on which the monarch would have sat to receive visitors. It features adjustable side arms and considerable depth of seating, it usually has exposed wooden finials at the rear corner tops, and some exposed wood may be present on the otherwise arms. The arms, more correctly sides, are of the same height. The side arms are tied to the sofa back by means of heavy decorative braid, often with an elaborate tassel.

A customer chose a really fresh choice of fabric colour-way with a matching braid. These classics look beautiful in any home setting, modern or traditional. Not only beautifully made but they are surprisingly heavy. Try picking one up, you’ll get a bit of a shock! Oh and i love the colours!

Designed by our customer in London this simple footstool has been made into a really interesting and unique footstool which I’m sure will be a great talking point.
Upholstered – in part – with an old potato sack. The sacking was quite stretchy so Barry lined the underside with an upholstery material and aded two panels each side to completely cover the footstool showing the potato sack set in the middle.

I thought this piece deserved three photos – we just love its clever idea/design and simplicity.

Reupholstered in a stylish woven fabric.

If you have good quality solid frame conservatory furniture, its worth reupholstering or in most cases simply recovering the cushions in a modern up to date fabric. We can also replace or re-wrap the fibre back cushions and foam seat cushions.
Fabric used on mass produced conservatory furniture often is cotton based, thin and made to a cost. The sun of course eventually breaks it down and your left with a good frame.
An option is to custom make a bespoke replacement with an upholstery grade quality fabric.
Not only is this a cost effective way to build a quality bespoke product, it also means you don’t have to shop for (often inferior) replacement – you keep the furniture that you know and know it fits.
This example was recovered in a stunning Linwood fabric that really suits the style of room.
Beautiful!

When Jo delivered the reupholstered cushions the room was not quite finished but I promised I would send photographs so please find these attached. I am thrilled with the result, they are wonderful. I have ordered new blinds and am looking for “pieces” to finish dressing the room. I would thank you all for your friendliness and professional attitude.
I would have no problem recommending you to anyone thinking of reupholstering furniture.
Best wishes, Ida.
PS just waiting for warm weather to use the cushion on wrought iron garden seat!

We recently restored an antique fireside chair in this leather hide. There was just enough leather to cover this footstool also. So here it is about completed waiting on the bench for the finishing touches of upholstery round headed pins in each corner. See the ‘Rolls Royce’ corner stitch in the detailed photo – Lovely!

This is restoration. As you can see in the photos below; we strip the furniture back and remove the, in this case 200 year old, padding and reconstruct using modern variations of horse hair and modern wadding. Checking and fixing the frame then we re-fit/replace and tie-in with twine the coil springs.
Modern furniture is not built this way. And this type of furniture was an expensive luxury in its day, therefor it was built to a very high standard. The comfort is something else.
We have a 1904 chair in our shop – come and sit in it, you wont want to leave – remember we close at 5!

Restored and reupholstered in a modern fabric creates a classic that will last for a very long time. A lovely antique button back chair restored and reupholstered in a light soft velvet – gorgeous!

Really popular in the 1960s and 1970’s Parker Knoll chairs have often visited our workshop for 30 years. Easily recognised by the clean lines with small rolled arms and wings. To check, look under the seat cushion to find round springs covered in a canvas material. Then look under the frame base to see the stamp ‘Parker Knoll’. Always super quality, almost bulletproof, it’s rare to have to repair a Parker Knoll frame. We love them!
Started in the 1930’s Parker Knoll is a British furniture manufacturing company, originally formed by Frederick Parker and Willi Knoll, a German inventor of the distinctive form of springs under the seat. The company was listed on the London Stock Exchange in 1950, but taken private in 2004. After financial problems, it was acquired out of administration by Sofa Brands International. In recent years, the brand has moved back to the higher-quality end of the domestic furniture market.
Prices for new Parker Knoll furniture are still a great value, chairs about £1000 for example. They are quite plain but have clean lines, quite small therefore fit well in modern houses. I like them as they are not ‘flash’ but a recognised quality that can be used for generations -, good value style that can be used every day.
Here is a delightful restored Parker Knoll chair we recently completed. Isn’t she lovely!
