Traditional wingback chair restored and updated with an ‘on-trend’ fabric.
We often talk with customers who want to update or change the fabric on a chair or sofa.
The hurdle often can be the price. It costs more to reupholster say a Next Interiors or Laura Ashley chair than it does to buy a new one. The great thing about the likes of Next Interiors or Laura Ashley is that they are ‘on-trend’ and the fabrics used are very lovely to look at. The negative is that they are made to a price and probably mass produced in China or India – nothing wrong with that as it gives us a great deal – but they are made to a price and engineered to last just a few years with average use.
For value for money and a piece of furniture that will last much longer your better off buying an older quality chair and investing in a restoration of your design.
Here is an example of a fairly standard traditional wingback chair restored and updated with an ‘on-trend’ fabric. Costs a bit more, take a little more time to instigate but made to your style using British craftsmen and quality fabrics. There is no other like it!

Conservatory Furniture
Conservatory Furniture, Orangery or Florida room etc.
If you have good quality solid frame conservatory furniture, its worth reupholstering or in most cases simply recovering the cushions in a modern up to date fabric. We can also replace or re-wrap the fibre back cushions and foam seat cushions.
Fabric used on mass produced conservatory furniture often is cotton based, thin and made to a cost. The sun of course eventually breaks it down and your left with a good frame.
An option is to custom make a bespoke replacement with an upholstery grade quality fabric.
Not only is this a cost effective way to build a quality bespoke product, it also means you don’t have to shop for (often inferior) replacement – you keep the furniture that you know and know it fits.
This example was recovered in a stunning Linwood fabric that really suits the style of room.
Beautiful!
When Jo delivered the reupholstered cushions the room was not quite finished but I promised I would send photographs so please find these attached. I am thrilled with the result, they are wonderful. I have ordered new blinds and am looking for “pieces” to finish dressing the room. I would thank you all for your friendliness and professional attitude.
I would have no problem recommending you to anyone thinking of reupholstering furniture.
Best wishes, Ida.
PS just waiting for warm weather to use the cushion on wrought iron garden seat!
Leather Chairs Restored
Leather Chairs and Leather Sofa’s are Regular Visitors to our Workshop.
As leather chairs and sofa’s can be expensive to buy it is cost effective to repair, restore and reupholster. This pair of large very contemporary leather chairs came in to be revitalised. We took the opportunity to complete one first and took a Before and After photo.
A sad before and a happy after!
Dining Chairs
Dining Chairs are a regular in our workshop
Some dining chairs have a ‘pop-out’ seat pads, you can drop these into our shop in Darlington – we can pick up if required. Others are the same but with fixing screws underneath, we can call and remove for you. And then there are the fixed seat and sometimes fixed back dining chairs, we will collect.
Dining chairs seem to not go out of style and always are useful. We clean and wax the wood areas if requested while in the workshop and nearly always replace the foam padding, returned to you in almost as-new, comfortable condition – you will be surprised how hard those old dining chairs have got.

Please contact us for an accurate price – remember to include dimensions and your location if you require collection and delivery. Our prices include the correct fitting to the case but not the disposal of the old foams. *Due to recent price increases, I am afraid, please check with us for the updated pricing.
