Knole Sofa

Knoll Sofa

A nice example of a modern knole style sofa in Linwood Omega velvet print. The black sofa is already in place. We added new large scatter cushions in the Omega print to complement the newly upholstered sofa.

When your living room looks like this, would you ever go out?

Information: The original Knole Settee (also known as the Knole Sofa) is a couch chair that was made in the 17th century, probably around 1640. It is housed at ‘Knole’ in Kent, a house owned by the Sackville-West family since 1605 but now in the care of the National Trust.

Victorian Chair

Years in Storage

This very pretty and delicate chair was stored by the customer for years in the garage with the intention to have it restored in the future. Our customer decided to have it reupholstered when she moved house (So we collected it from one address and delivered it to another).

It is a Victorian chair; we cleaned and waxed the wood, restored the internals and reupholstered it in the customer’s own fabric. Learn more about reupholstery fabrics

Look at the beautiful curve at the top of the back, the pleated arm fronts and the delicate braid edging – just lovely style and quality design.

Victorian Chaise Lounge

Victorian Chaise

A lovely Victorian Chaise Lounge.  We have reupholstered some 100s of chaise lounge.  Mostly Victorian and Georgian and some modern versions, they were particularly popular in Victorian days.  This example is unusual as it has a metal frame.  A total refurbishment and reupholster, we think she looks delightful in blue and we love the curved form of the front edge.  The fabric is a Linwood Italian velvet in a teal blue. Delivered to our customer in Darlington.

Where would you find such a quality classic like this in modern retail shops? – I’m in love.

1960s Sofa

1960s Retro

1960’s retro sofa with two matching chairs. Upholstered in a blue Wemyss fabric. All the wood was stripped back and waxed. More fabrics to browse on our fabrics page. Our customer bought the sofa and chair set some years ago second hand. Stored it for a long time, then decided to have it restored and reupholstered. We are glad to see a historic design icon saved to serve for many years in the future. A side note: If you look for a new equivalent to this style of sofa and of this bespoke quality you will need some thousands of pounds. This is a restored original.

Thank you to our customer to allow a few photos at delivery – they look stunning. Now living in the West End of Darlington.

Log Cabin

Chesterfield

Here is something a little different. We reupholstered a relatively recent Chesterfield sofa in a sunflower gold velour. The chesterfield was probably manufactured in the 1980s, so it’s not ancient like some we have restored. The dimensions are good, a deep seat and a slightly higher back. It was bespoke restored to go in our customers guest cottage/chill-out area at the home in the Cotswolds.

Thank you Gill for sending the photos of the sofa in its new rather lovely new home.

Small turn of century armchair

Turn Of Century Armchair

A classicly shaped small turn of century armchair. Fully restored and upholstered in Linwood Omega patterned velvet. Selected by our client now safely delivered to their home in Darlington.

I have seen a number of this style of chairs in auction houses recently. They are usually in extremely bad condition, particularly the frame and springs. This example was in good order when we first started the restoration.

Bent out of shape, creaky, broken frames with popping-out springs etc can be restored – but best buy a structurally sturdy version. Cost at an auction is at an amazingly low price currently, £200- 500 each. Restored, an equivalent value will be in the region of £2000 – 5000 each. And totally unique.

Cream Chair

Cream Sofa and Chair

This is a 50-year-old sofa and chair beloved by our customer. We restored and reupholstered in a very similar fabric as requested, a Chatsworth damask. The sofa and chair were located in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, as our customer was relocating to Pickering in North Yorkshire we delivered it there.

Occasional Chair

Occasional Chair

Here is another example of a completed reupholstery job. A neatly designed oak occasional chair with some wear and patina. We reupholstered as selected by our customer in a peach patterned linen with a coordinating braid.

The chair owner is shipping the chair to Wales.
