Loose Covers

This is a chair with loose covers, which always presents a tricky challenge. With this type of design, we rely on the weight of the fabric to pull everything into place, particularly along the sides. You may notice some slight ripples on the arms — this is completely normal at this stage as the fabric hangs. Hidden from view, we’ve added weighted boards at the bottom of each side panel to help the covers settle perfectly over time.

This chair is heading to a well-known hotel in Scotland, and we’re delighted with how the loose covers have been tailored to provide a perfect fit while maintaining comfort and style.

Tropical Tub Chair 

We’ve just finished reupholstering this beautiful chair for one of our repeat customers. It’s not easy to date, but our guess would be around the 1920s. The chair is solid and weighty, fitted with Shepherd casters—a sign of quality furniture from its time.

The style could be described as a tub chair, with a graceful arched back. It doesn’t have buttoning in the backrest now, though it may have originally been designed with a button back.

Our customer supplied the fabric, and we have to say—it’s a bold and brilliant choice! The material feels like a heavy cotton blend with a loose weave, finished in a stunning printed design we’ve never come across before. It’s unique, striking, and works beautifully on this classic piece.

Saddle-Style Comfort reupholstered in Velvet. Originally upholstered in leather, this classic saddle-style sofa has been reupholstered in a Linwood Fabric olive velvet. The pad-cushioned arms—distinctive of the saddle construction—sit neatly on the upholstered frame, while the new fabric updates the style and gives the sofa a more contemporary look. Reupholstered Footstool

This footstool is part of a lounge set we recently completed, which included a sofa, a chair, and this piece – nicely designed footstool. Originally upholstered in thick, stylised leather, it has now been transformed in the customer’s chosen velvet fabric, giving it a fresh new bespoke look.

The footstool features a spring-assisted lift-up lid, making it both practical and comfortable. We’ve included close-up photos to show the stitching detail, which really adds to the overall quality and design. One lovely feature is the fabric weighted tab used to lift the lid—both functional and a thoughtful design touch
