Grey Sofa Reupholstered

Sofa Set In Grey Ross Fabric

How lovely it was to come down this a.m and see her sitting in the place she had occupied since 1970. We are quite overwhelmed. An absolutely incredible transformation. Barry’s experience is second to none. The frame adjustments have given a new comfort and her new dress is stunning. Jo from our first meeting, I knew we were in good hands. Your warmth and lovely manner is very special. Thank you.

Dining Chair Leather Close

Leather Dining Chairs

These dining chairs were reupholstered in white grained leather as requested by the customer. Previously upholstered in the cloth – see the original image below. We use only the finest Scottish leather, it looks amazing, feels fantastic and smells really lovely. The quality of these hides is way better than most manufactured leather furniture. The leather is 4mm thick so will take generations of use. They were boardroom chairs owned by the customer. We transformed into white for the dining room.

At first glance, you may be forgiven for thinking this is just an old dated dining chair. Look at the frame, particularly the curved and jointed front curve of the arms, the sheen of the varnish. This is a quality designer chair. Reupholstered in a high-grade Scottish leather it took two hides to complete the set of six. Now an upgraded design piece that will sit well in a modern or contemporary home.

Chair Originally From Barker & Stonehouse Chair

This is a fifteen your old good quality chair from Barker & Stonehouse that our customer wanted to replace but he could not find a suitable sized, styled and comfortable chair. So they came to us to have it restored and reupholstered. This is a great option – you can select a new fabric and even adjust the seating and detail. I think the orange fabric is a great choice.

Victorian Sofa

Victorian deep button sofa.

I have been looking forward to sharing this item. A very rare and on-trend genuine Victorian sofa. It looks luscious in the customers’ own fabric – a rich port red. Unknown to most is the craftsmanship inside the sofa. Been a Victorian piece of a very high quality the frame was is strengthened by cast-iron bars. We renewed all the base webbing to be as tight as steel – the sofa can take it. And it looks very special.

Alteration and Repair Duresta: We can alter and repair. We expertly resized a Duresta sofa, reducing its width by 2 feet to perfectly fit into a bay window. Our precise craftsmanship ensures a tailored fit that seamlessly integrates into the space, enhancing both functionality and aesthetics.

Delighted with the reupholstering of our 2 sofas which are 20 years old but now look brand new. The workmanship is of the highest standard, couldn’t have asked for a better job plus the work was completed on time. Many thanks.

    Fireside Chair

    A Lovely Fireside Wingback chair

Parker Knoll made this style of chair famous. Wingback chairs have been made for hundreds of years – the wing to shelter you from draughts and to rest your head. Our customer selected a lovely wool mix plaid tartan and asked us to self pipe the edges.

It looks really elegant and styling, now updated and more fitting to a contemporary or traditional home.

A chair like this is a valuable asset to any family and it may live in a number of rooms in the future. Very lovely.

    Knole Sofa

    Knole Sofas

A pair of classic Knoll Sofa in Italian Velvet.

We had a little debate recently on how to spell ‘Knole’ when referring to a Knole Sofa. With a little help from the Internet, we confirmed the correct spelling and decided to share some history – you can view the original Knole sofa in Knole in Kent.

The Knole sofa was made in the 17th century. Originally used not as a comfortable sofa but as a formal throne on which the monarch would have sat to receive visitors. It is housed at Knole in Kent, a house owned by the Sackville-Wests since 1605 but now in the care of the National Trust.

To identify a Knole sofa it usually has exposed wooden finials at the rear corner tops. The arms are sides and are of the same height as the back. The side arms are tied to the sofa back by means of heavy decorative braid, often with an elaborate tassel.

In addition to this I have a theory that the arms could be lowered to make a tempory bed. All said and done they always look regal.

1930s Chair in houndstooth by Linwood-wing

    1930s Chair

The strong shape and sturdy lines of this chair made me fall in love with it. Our customer chose a beautiful Linwood houndstooth fabric with a gentle stone and lichen colourway. The build quality of this era of furniture manufacturer is impeccable – again, sturdy and strong quality. The equivalent, if you could buy one new, would be over £5000. And it’s great to restore rather than make new – a delight. Matching sofa below.
